Skinny Bakery are a company I’d followed for a while on Instagram before finally placing my first order prompted by the news that they were making 42-calorie doughnuts. I ordered a few different products: carrot (cake) pearls, lemon (cake) pearls, mini flapjacks and jam doughnuts. I was a happy teacher at school when my box of goodies arrived (I put them straight in the staff fridge as directed).
The doughnuts didn’t disappoint: they had a glossy coating of icing rather than sugar and a decent amount of raspberry jam filling. The sweetness was spot-on and they were immensely satisfying for such a low-calorie content. The dough was slightly on the bready side, but this might have also have been a trade-off to keep them under 50 cals. The little pots and packaging are very cute, and I’ll certainly be a return customer. I heartily recommend the lemon and carrot pearls too – soft and delicious.
